DHARWAD: A faculty reunion journey to Goa resulted in tragedy when 11 individuals died and 6 have been injured after their minibus collided with a sand-laden tipper on Pune-Bengaluru nationwide freeway bypass at Itigatti Cross on the outskirts of Dharwad on Friday.
Dharwad superintendent of police P Krishnakant instructed TOI that former college students of Davanagere’s Saint Paul Convent College have been heading to Goa for a three-day vacation. 9 among the many useless have been ladies and included a professor at a Davanagere medical faculty.

Dr Preeti was a professor within the division of obstetrics and gynaecology, JJM Medical School, Davanagere. The injured are Asha Jagadish Bethur, 47; Veda Manjunath, 46; Usharani Ramesh, 46; Poornima Sureshbabu, 46; Praveena Prakash, 46; and tipper driver Basavaraj Irappa Kadarolli of Ugarkhod in Kittur taluk of Belagavi district. The injured have been rushed to a non-public hospital in Hubballi.
Three of the injured have been in a vital situation, one affected person was airlifted to a non-public hospital in Bengaluru. One other affected person was shifted to a non-public hospital in Belagavi on her member of the family’s request.
